Last night, July 16th, was the July Boston SEO Meetup held at the Arlington Library in Arlington MA. Despite the heat, a great crowd came out to talk about SEO, share client and personal experiences, ask questions and offer expert advice. There was no speaker scheduled, although the Meetup founders are working on getting Tim Carter from Ask The Builder to be next month’s guest speaker. This month’s SEO Meetup was hosted at the Microsoft New England Research & Development Center in Cambridge. The guest speaker, David McBee of Text Link Ads, gave a highly informative presentation called Paid Links: A look at the Truth and the Disinformation.
David McBee made the case that all links, in one way or another, are paid links. Either one site owner pays another directly for a link, or a site owner pays an SEO professional to go out and build links for them. He explained that there is a teeter-totter of links (total garbage vs. good) and the issue isn’t whether paid links are good or bad for SEO, it’s what kind of paid links are you getting. Read more
The July Boston SEO Meetup event (held on Tuesday July 12, 2011) featured guest speaker Jesse Friedman, Director of Web Development at Neal Advertising. Jesse has been developing websites for ten years and in addition to the work that he does at Neal Advertising, he is also an adjunct professor of web development at Johnson and Wales University and has spoken about web development at conferences and contributed content to web design publications.
