Boston Pay Per Click Search Marketing Specialist

McDougall Interactive has been managing internet marketing campaigns since 1995, has won web marketing awards and has been featured in the Boston Herald and on Internet Retailer. We are currently in Gloucester but will be moving to Danvers in November.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The pay per click specialist will be responsible for all of our pay per click (PPC) accounts. He or she will work with our clients mostly via email and phone calls with occasional in house/offsite meetings. We have an SEO department, so traditional SEO skills are a plus but not required as this is a full time PPC job. You will be responsible for developing keyword sets, ad groups, ad copy, and goal tracking in Google Analytics. We have a certified analytics expert on retainer, so your analytics skills can be limited. Our analytics guru does a monthly report for all clients, so as long as you set up a goal/s to track, your info will be in our monthly PowerPoint presentation. Ad copy and landing page optimization skills essential.
This position is in the office full time – please no freelance, outsource or work from home requests.
We also have a full time writer and webmaster on staff and a link builder on retainer, so these areas are managed separately from PPC but will have a strong tie in. For example, our web designer can make forms for you on request, if a client does not have a lead submission form when we start an account.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

- Create and manage ad groups and keyword lists
- Track Leads and campaign process and send reports to clients
- Answer client questions and implement ongoing changes to increase ROI
- Track changes in how PPC tools work and be our thought leader in this area
- Construct and prepare weekly performance reports for internal purposes
- Write one blog post a month, if possible, on our blog

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Google Adwords expertise (Adwords certified if possible), Yahoo Sponsored Search and MSN Ad Center a plus
- Proficient in Excel (MS Office)
- Multitasking and exceptional project management skills
- Knowledge of display advertising / content network helpful but not required
- General HTML knowledge a plus
- Having worked at a digital agency or on large volumes of PPC accounts is a plus

Interested candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for this position may apply by replying to this message and attaching a resume or listing qualifications. No phone calls please.

SEO Specialist Wanted – Local candidates only

This is a full time SEO job, not a graphic design position. We have plenty of subcontractors and overseas vendors, only local, full time applicants will be considered.

We are looking for someone to join our rapidly expanding SEO team. Duties include some or any of the following:

• Keyword research
• Competitive analysis
• Technical SEO issues like 301 redirects (or asking our server admin to do this), Suggesting “clean URL’s” for our clients such as .com/widgets/red-widgets.html versus .com./?id_423 etc.
• Setting up and possibly managing basic or advanced PPC (adwords) campaigns (depending on your skill level)
• Adding your tasks into our task manager called liquid planner
• Working with approximately 15 of our 30 SEO retainer clients
• Strategy meetings to brainstorm new ideas to enhance SEO success
• Keeping up to date on the latest SEO techniques – watching our advanced training videos from SEOmoz etc.
• Understand what a conversion rate is with an eye for suggesting ways to improve the sites we work on
• Any programming, HTML or design knowledge is appreciated but not required.

Things we have “mostly covered”
1. We have a full time certified Google Analytics expert (but all SEO’s should be able to talk intelligently about the reports we generate and suggest new things to track.)
2. Link Building (We have a full time offsite team but this is a skill we can always use more of and new ideas are welcome)
3. Social Media (we mostly do blogs with YouTube tie ins and basic Facebook and Twitter campaigns. Sometimes we do more extreme viral content development (like “Gopher Golf Bike PoloJ) and submit to top social sites etc. This is not required for this role but if someone shows promise in this area we are open to discussing how this could fit into our packages or open new doors.
4. Writing (We have a full time writer who has a PhD. In English literature that does most of our editing. She takes the phrases per page maps from the SEO and adds keywords into existing text and ads new content when necessary. This allows the SEO to keep more focused on the technical and client facing aspects.
5. We have a full time “webmaster”. We use to build dozens of sites and had a number of .NET programmers on staff. Now we have a partner for advanced sites and our web person is a mix of designer and basic coder.. He adds title and meta tags, does design work like occasional new sites, landing page design (we won an award for this last year), adds cool call to action buttons etc. By having this person solely dedicated to the SEO process we excel at enhancing existing websites for SEO and conversions.

The ideal candidate has a passion for internet marketing and marketing in general. You enjoy or can handle working on lots of projects at once and like to find new ways to get results as the industry shifts to remain on the cutting edge, when possible.

We are thinking that you will be one of two SEO’s on board that divide our client list in half (we have 30 clients now and are shooting for 40 in the next year) Since the writing, analytics reports and links are all done by other people, you are mainly focused on overseeing SEO from a 30k foot view and then tracking down all the details that make it work.

Link Project for 3 months (possibly optional)
*We have one 3 month project that may play a part in this job. One of our clients wants to pay us for advanced link building beyond what our team already does. They want to pay for 2 weeks a month, for three months, of “your” time. So if it makes sense, we will have you spend the first three months doing half link building (promoting through emails or phone calls, a batch of content or a very specific link bait article.) The other half of your week would be working on 5-10 clients. By giving you only 5-10 clients in the first month, we will be able to get you up to speed slowly and also get the links done. We have not decided yet if this will make sense and are open to feedback. Certainly learning a deep link building skill set for a few months would be a great achievement if you / we can pull this off.

We are a very creative and hard working team with a lot of experience and a proven track record. I am on the board of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, come from an ad agency family and have been doing SEO since 1995. We are a small but growing company with big plans for the future. If this sounds interesting to you, don’t be shy and say hello.

We are currently in Gloucester but are actively looking for office space in Peabody or Danvers.

Email resumes or even just your input at first to: John
